Great post from Lou Rosenfield about having a default set of IA questions that one can ask about any site as part of an heuristic evaluation.
I like the fact that his approach groups the questions in a way that doesn't over-emphasize the home page, given that visitors are increasingly likely to arrive at any page in a site from a search engine (my earlier post on this subject).
Also worth a read in the same vein is user-experience.org's Navigation Stress Test - another simple, practical tool for assessing a site's IA by looking at a particular page.
