UIE has published a new report The Designer's Guide to Web Applications, Part I: Structure and Flows which looks useful to anyone building or redesigning a web app.
The first chapter is available as a free download (PDF 2.58MB) and covers what the report describes as the "two basic forms of application structure" — the hub and the interview.
The report also has an accompanying interview with Hagan Rivers, the report's author.
Even if you don't buy the report, I'd highly recommend reading the first chapter. I was not familiar with the two concepts it introduced and it also presents an interesting way to diagram the structure and flow of web applications.
