Web Site Navigation Design Showcase

Just a quick note to say that I've gathered together a navigation design showcase with 70+ examples.

I've specifically avoided including (too many) examples where the navigation is overly creative as I figured these wouldn't be as useful to a wider audience.

Still, I think there's plenty of variety across the designs, although horizontal navigation features far more prominently over vertical. That's not intentional — it just worked out like that.

Anyway, I'm sure I've missed out tons of great examples. So, send them my way and I'll be sure to add them in the future.

Great resource; thanks for putting this together ... navigation design is always a place I get hung up on early in the design process.

We put together a post a while back, "Horizontal Navigation; nine ways to skin a cat"

Once you start perusing the web for inspiration rich entities, you quickly notice the very small world from which everyone seems to be working from – especially when you get as specific as horizontal navigation.

Some really nice examples of site navigation here.

It's always good to have something for inspiration, especially when it comes to something as important as site navigation.

Thanks this is a very nice round up. The Nav is code to most websites so I am glad you didn't included the overly complicated. Useability has to play its part and making the nav difficult to follow easily just starts things off on the wrong foot.
