New Image Replacement Hack Replaces the -9999px Hack

I was pretty interested to read about a potential replacement for the venerable -9999px image replacement hack that we've been using for so many years, which Zeldman has christened the "Kellum Method."

Apparently it will improve performance by a tiny amount on certain older devices so it's certainly not a 'must upgrade' for me. On the other hand, the CSS is quite elegant, which makes me want to try it.
